U.S. Senate passes Housing Stimulus bill

The U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan mortgage rescue bill that allows the Federal Housing Administration to refinance troubled mortgages--even those that are under water--as long as banks agree to take a loss. The program would allow the FHA to help as many as 400,000 home owners. Now the bill goes to a bipartisan committee in the House for revision. The measure includes higher limits for FHA loans and creates a new regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It also would provide $14.5 billion in housing tax breaks, including a credit of up to $8,000 for first-time homebuyers. It is expected that the housing stimulus bill will help bring stability to the housing market and stop the rising rate of foreclosures.

Just Shoot Me...

by Matthew Ferrara
I know, I probably deserve it. I'm the one who's constantly poking and pushing and prodding the REALTOR population
to put more property video online. I should have learned my lesson, though, after I cajoled the industry into putting more photos online, only to have ended up with the creepy, scary stuff we're seeing today.

I thought I'd seen it all. I could even get used to the bad photos. Now it has moved into video--and if this is what we're going to get from REALTORS, I'm thinking I might do better herding cats.

On the lighter side

A guy walks into the real estate office and hands the broker his application.

The broker begins to scan the sheet, and notices that the applicant has been fired from every real estate office he has ever worked for.

"I must say," says the executive, "your work history is terrible. You've been fired from every real estate office."

"Yes," says the man.

"Well," continues the broker, "there's not much positive in that."

"Hey!" says the guy as he pokes the application. "At least I'm not a quitter."
