Good Neighbor nominees sought
REALTOR Magazine is seeking nominations for the ninth annual Good Neighbor Awards, which recognize REALTORS who impact their communities through volunteer work. Five winners will be recognized at the 2008 REALTORS Conference & Expo in Orlando and will receive travel expenses to attend the show and a $10,000 grant for their community cause. Volunteer work includes affordable housing initiatives, youth mentoring, homelessness prevention, or anything else that makes a community a better place to live. Entries must be received by May 23. Transaction fee class action against broker proceeds...A lawsuit involving a transaction fee that a brokerage firm charged to its clients could be certified as a class action lawsuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruled, reversing the trial court and sending the case to the lower court for further proceedings. The court said the trial court did not need to make a factual analysis of each transaction to certify the case as a class action, because the buyer is claiming that no services were provided by the brokerage. Thus, if the brokerage shows some services were performed for the fee, the class action will fail.

Send Contacts in Outlook...If you have contacts stored in Outlook that you would like to send to other people, it could not be easier. Just go to your Contacts folder, right-click on the contact you want to send and then click Forward. A brand-new e-mail message will be created with that contact included as an attachment. Just enter the e-mail address of the people you want to forward it to and click Send.
When the recipients receive the contact, all they have to do is to drag the attachment onto either the Contacts icon in the Outlook Shortcuts bar or onto the Contacts folder in the folder list; it will be added automatically to their contacts list.
Changing your name in Excel...When you first install Excel, it asks you for your name so it can personalize the registration for your program. It also writes your name into the user area. This information is used in various places by Excel, such as in the workbook properties area. If you need to change your name, follow these steps:
- Choose Options from the Tools menu. You will see the Options dialog box.
- Make sure the General tab is selected.
- Change the information in the User Name box, as desired.
- Click on OK.
